The Windham Housing Trust offers an effective, practical means of developing housing opportunities and fostering vibrant, diverse, and attractive communities—as our charter promises—for “as long as the grass grows and water runs...”
To keep rents affordable to our residents, the Trust turns to private foundations, individuals, and businesses for financial support—to help pay for essential staff and overhead costs which are not fully covered by the grant dollars we receive for our housing development projects.
There are a variety of ways that you can support the Windham Housing Trust. We are a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt charitable organization, and your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
As a WHT donor you will receive our spring and fall newsletters, annual report, announcements to local events and activities—including invitations to our open house events and fun-filled annual picnic—and you’ll add your voice to supporting safe, attractive affordable homes for all Windham County residents.
Annual Fund Gifts
Supporting our Annual Fund with a cash gift is the simplest and most common way to support WHT’s important community development work—and you’ll automatically become a WHT Member! This gift might be a one-time contribution, or a monthly contribution, made payable via check or credit card. Click here for a printable donation form. We also accept secure online donations through groundspring.org. You may choose to make a one-time gift or a recurring gift monthly, quarterly, or annually. To donate now, click here:

Bequest
A bequest is a gift made through your will or living trust. It is a straightforward way to make a gift to the Trust, and worthy of your consideration. A bequest might be used to ensure your annual contributions continue, or to make a special one-time gift to WHT. Such gifts are fully deductible for estate tax purposes.
Gifts of Land or Property
WHT staff would be happy to discuss a potential gift of land or property. Depending upon your wishes, the property might be preserved as housing or sold, with the sale proceeds benefiting the work of the Trust.
Gifts of Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Funds
Stocks, bonds, or mutual funds are easily donated, and can often provide you with exceptional tax savings. When you donate appreciated securities to WHT, you will usually receive the benefit of a fair-market value income tax deduction, and your gift will be exempt from capital gains tax. Your financial advisor will be able to advise you on the best way to make of gift of this type.
To ensure that your goals are achieved, we’d be happy to discuss your gift with you. Please contact Hollis Burbank-Hammarlund, Director of Planning and Development, at 802-246-2113 or hbhammarlund@windhamhousingtrust.org
Working together, we can continue to make a difference—a huge difference—in our Windham County neighborhoods and in the lives of our fellow county residents!
Thank you for your kind generosity!
