Since its incorporation in 1987, the Windham Housing Trust (WHT) has held firm to its belief that quality, affordable housing is an essential component of family and community stability. This fundamental belief has guided the Trust’s work throughout the years, helping the region’s communities meet the housing needs of their citizens through the creation of affordable rental housing and homeownership opportunities.
Rental Housing Program
The Windham Housing Trust develops and manages affordable rental housing throughout Windham County. Multi-family properties are either purchased by the Trust and renovated into decent, safe, and affordable rental units, or they are created anew.
Once the housing is rehabilitated or created, WHT staff provide comprehensive property management services, as well as special supportive services, when needed, to help residents maintain housing stability.
WHT’s rental housing portfolio includes: Efficiency apartments, single-room occupancy housing, one- to four-bedroom apartments, a mobile home park, condominiums, single-family homes, elderly housing, housing for formerly homeless mothers with children, service-enriched housing, and special housing for the Deaf, persons with disabilities, and persons living with HIV/AIDS.
