Is there a need to create more?

A 2006 housing needs assessment commissioned by WHT found a complex array of regional and national forces have converged upon the region to create a growing gap between what’s affordable to many low- and moderate-income households and what’s available within the rental and homeownership markets. That study explored the need for affordable housing and the current supply throughout our region, firmly concluding that there is still a pressing need to create affordable housing opportunities for renters and homeowners. That’s because the region continues to change and evolve over time, as do the needs of its citizens and the nature of its economy and environment.
