ButterfieldProviding Housing Choice

Windham Housing Trust (WHT) has a rich history of responding to critical community challenges through innovative housing solutions. To date, the Trust has created nearly 450 permanently affordable homes and apartments that serve 1,000 area residents, 41% of whom are children.

With a mission to serve the needs of citizens who are least served by the prevailing market, WHT has worked over the years to create a full spectrum of housing opportunities across the county, ranging in size from single-family homes to a 33-unit rental apartment complex, and serving very-low, low- and moderate-income renters and homeowners.

WHT’s housing portfolio includes: Efficiency apartments, single-room occupancy housing, one- to four-bedroom apartments, a mobile home park, condominiums, single-family homes, elderly housing, housing for formerly homeless mothers with children, service-enriched housing, and special housing for the Deaf, persons with disabilities, the formerly homeless, and persons living with HIV/AIDS.  Click here to learn more about Apartments for Rent.

WHT also operates the HomeOwnership Center of Southeastern Vermont, which makes affordable homeownership possible for low-and moderate-income households, and provides low-interest rehabilitation loans to help local homeowners carry out essential health and safety repairs to their homes and property.
